It seems that Filefront.com is going through a makeover. This means that there may be some issues with mod files hosted on filefront

Message on Filefront website:

NOTE:
There are bugs with files. Some files are entirely missing, and you may experience errors while trying to download files. We are aware of these, and are working to fix these issues ASAP. Thank you for your patience!

There are definitely bugs with FileFront 2.0, and we’re working hard to fix them all. There are a lot of moving parts to this beast, and it will come to life in fits and starts. However, we’re confident that it will be a healthy, happy site in good time. Thank you for bearing with us.

Please be aware that many users upload their files to filefront, including the LS-UK Modteam, so please be patient while filefront sorts itself out. People who upload alternative links will not be tolerated!

Thanks

Good to know this. Well people, I suggest that if a download doesn't work, bookmark it or write it down and try again in a few days. Wink. Above all, please have patience.

Can I also remind people that if a mod isn't working and you have it and want to make it work again, please don't reupload the whole thing. Just send us the link and we will do the rest. Also please do not reupload any Mod Team mods. They are capable of sorting it out themselves. Wink

And while you send us a new link to something, would you be so kind as to also include the download section link where we can find the mod to which you have a new link? Thank you. Smiley

Sorry but I want a clarification on People who upload alternative links will not be tolerated!
Are you talking about the files that are unavailable now due to filefront OR in general when one upload a mod they should only have a single link (the default "Click here to download (3rd party website)")?
When I'm coming out with the my first mod soon I had thought about using some upload service because they can be quite fast and manually write a link to my web host (in the USA, which is slow for us Europeans) in the description just in case the upload service goes down.
Is this not allowed?
If so I'm perhaps going with only my web host instead as I trust more in that one (I've used them for several years), and as it's only a vehicle it will only be a few megabytes.

Perhaps LS-UK should be thinking of starting a hosting service for uploaded mods? Personally I feel it quite unreliable with upload services - the link may go dead if inactive for some time etc.

1, The moderators are talking about people reuploading mods while filefront is down

2, Links between USA and Europe are not slow. There's something like a total capacity of 750GB/s* link between US and Europe nowadays. It's just the latency (Time between sending the request and a response being received) that is slow. This doesn't really affect file transfers, but lookup times are slowish. Hence why the site (and database) is hosted in the UK. Filefront is fast and I'm pretty sure they are hosted in the US.

3, You can't put a link in the description - For security reasons among other things.

3, We have plans to launch file hosting. It's coming. We have to make some quite big changes behind the scenes first though Smiley

*Apparently there's a new 10.1TB link but I'm not sure if it's being used yet Smiley

To much hurry on you: 3, 3, (lol) Grin

But, well, then I will wait to upload my map, because most people likes Filefront best.

Edit: Personally I like the old uploading "store" (server) better, because you got better downloading speed, but I don´t know the problems with it though  Undecided

Edit, Edit: The new site looks strange, don´t like it personally but where did the my files button go ?

Have patience Erik, as you may have noticed, they are still in the middle of upgrading the site. Some pages are still in the old style. (I'm assuming here that they are redesigning the look of the whole site) Plus, signing in doesn't work perfectly yet either. I just signed in but the home page refuses to acknowledge that fact.

Personally I might not have chosen for a phased introduction, but what can you do.

Just please be patient people, all will be alright in the end.

And just in case you need it: ( Wink )
